Still life is not a heroic genre. It does not tell grand stories, immortalize societal events, or deliver touching human fates. The kingdom of still lifes is composed of quiet, inanimate objects and items that only rarely get to be the center of attention. Still life nonetheless has a curious force that makes us see everyday things anew, to observe the overlooked.

The exhibition Inanimate Life and Dead Nature — Still Lifes from the Collections of the Finnish Museum of Photography displays diverse still life photography from the beginning of the 20th century to the 2010's from artists such as: Edward Weston, Karl Blossfeldt, Wladimir Schohin, Raakel Kuukka, Iiu Susiraja, Timo Kelaranta, Saara Ekström.
